A Serious Warning From The Book of Hebrews

“In the letter to the Hebrews the apostle Paul made it very clear throughout the Epistle that Jesus Christ was now the current and eternal High Priest, that Jesus now superseded and took the place of any physical high priest on earth. God mercifully gave the Jewish race residing in Judea around 40 years, through the direct example of God’s Church in Jerusalem, to accept Yeshua haMeschiach, Jesus Christ of Nazareth as their Messiah and new High Priest. At the end of that 40 years, in 70AD, God allowed the Romans to destroy both the Temple and city of Jerusalem, killing off the high priest and most of the Levitical priesthood that resided in Jerusalem. Since then no sacrifices that were commanded in the Books of Moses have been carried out, backing up Hebrews 10, that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ has taken the place of all physical Levitical sacrifices that were to be carried out at the Temple. No physical Levitical high priest has sat in that Old Covenant office of high priest in a functional Temple of God in Jerusalem since 70AD. As the apostle Paul had the Book of Hebrews penned in the Mamertine Prison just before 68AD and his death, he had contact with believers that were actually in Caesar’s household, as well as friendly Roman guards who had specific knowledge of troop dispositions and buildups, and preparations being made for the Roman invasion of Judea and Jerusalem. He knew of the coming destruction of Jerusalem and he knew Jesus’ prophecy about the Temple, that not one stone would be left standing upon another. In Hebrews 8:6-13 he made the statement that the Old Covenant was about to pass away. He knew this coming invasion of Judea and Jerusalem would accomplish that, and bring about the literal demise of the Jews’ ability to keep the terms and sacrifices of the Old Covenant. The Levites could no longer legally sacrifice an animal or levy a tithe, and the physical high priesthood was gone. According to the letter to the Hebrews, now Jesus Christ was the only remaining High Priest, for now and forever. Now fast-forward in the prophecies of Daniel 9 and 11, to where the Jews create a Levitical order and some sort of temple in Jerusalem, and start sacrifices again. Corresponding to that event, the Beast person makes a 7-year treaty between the Israeli Jews and the Arabs. After three and a half years the Beast power (the United States of Europe) breaks the treaty and invades the Middle East, and puts an end to the sacrifices, World War III has begun (Matthew 24:15-31). Now lets stop for a moment and analyze this, looking back. God has allowed the Roman Empire with all its military might to invade Judea and Jerusalem and wipe them out, destroying Jerusalem and the Temple, along with killing off the high priest and most of the Levitical priesthood living in Jerusalem, that was in 70AD. The Old Covenant is dead, God has allowed it to be nullified by the destruction of the Temple, high priest and the whole Levitical priesthood. Even the records of the Levitical priesthood family genealogies which were kept in the Temple were destroyed along with the genealogies of the Jewish royal families. God through Rome in 70AD has shown the Jews just what he thinks of their high priest. There is only one High Priest remaining, and the apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Hebrews has shown just who that is, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. You might say that the Epistle to the Hebrews is a legal document, declaring Jesus Christ is now the eternal High Priest, superseding any earthly human high priest, and this document is historically backed up by Rome’s invasion and destruction of Jerusalem, the Temple and the high priesthood and Levitical priesthood set up by God through Moses around 1445BC in the Sinai wilderness. Now let’s fast-forward again to the near future. Right now the Jews are attempting to sacrifice a red heifer so they can use its ashes to sanctify a new temple and it’s implements, to be used to resume sacrifices, which haven’t been carried out since 70AD. After this, the Orthodox Jewish religious leaders in Israel build some kind of temple, start a new Levitical priesthood, ordain a Levitical high priest, and start levying tithes—i.e. the Old Covenant has been reestablished by the Israeli religious Jews. Now Jesus Christ is still the actual eternal ever-living High Priest, as documented by the apostle Paul in the Book of Hebrews, and no mere human being can replace him. Jesus through his Church, from about 30AD to 70AD, gave the Jews and religious government of Judea, in Jerusalem, 40 years worth of witness—a witness of the New Covenant as spelled out in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which the apostle Paul reiterated in Hebrews 8:6-13, which states that as a part of this New Covenant, that God would write his laws into the hearts and minds of his people, those who made up his Church. These Jews and religious leaders living in Jerusalem and Judea witnessed this New Covenant process of God writing his laws into the hearts and minds of his early New Testament Jerusalem Church of God. Over this entire 40 year period they rejected that witness and persecuted God’s Church. 40 is God’s number for judgment, and after those 40 years expired, around 70AD, God stepped in through Rome, saying essentially, ‘That’s it, enough, I’m killing the Old Covenant off, only the New Covenant survives, and presently it only survives in my Church of called out ones (Hebrews 8:6-13). And when I return, then I will establish my New Covenant with the rest of surviving Israel, all 12 tribes of them (Jeremiah 31:31-34).’ So what are we about to see through Daniel 9 and 11, but a pattern that is about to repeat itself, prophetically speaking. The Jews from 30 AD to 70AD rejected God’s witness to them through the Church, and rejected their real High Priest, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Romans came and invaded Judea and Jerusalem, destroying the Temple and high priesthood, killing off the Old Covenant. Now fast-forward again, almost 2,000 years later the religious Jewish/Israeli nation is still rejecting Jesus Christ, Yeshua haMeschiach, their real High Priest—and now they’re going to set up a new temple, ordain a new Levitical priesthood, with their own physical high priest, and start sacrificing animals again, reinstituting the Old Covenant. Right at this point, the Beast power, some form of United States of Europe, for some reason, comes in and establishes a 7-year peace treaty between the Israelis and Arabs. Now if the first rejection of Jesus Christ, and his Church’s 40 year witness to them of the New Covenant in action brought on the Roman destruction of all of Judea, Jerusalem and the Temple, in two disastrous Roman-Jewish wars (70AD & 135AD), what will their 2^nd rejection of Jesus as their High Priest—by the establishment of a physical high priest in Jerusalem—bring on? Daniel 9 and 11 show this 7-year peace treaty is broken after three and a half years has gone by. Matthew 24:15-31 shows right then, the sacrifices are stopped. Why? World War III has begun. Three and a half years later Jesus Christ returns and establishes the New Covenant for all of surviving Israel, all 12 tribes (Jeremiah 31:31-34). Can you see, both historically and prophetically, how this process of establishment and rejection of the Old and New Covenants is about to repeat itself, with deadly consequences?
